Guided Meditations

Have you ever attended a guided meditation? This is a question that came up today. If you haven’t I’ll explain what happens for you.

Sitting in a chair, on the floor or even lying down – in a group setting or on your own – the guide will bring you into an awareness of your body, generally through a body check. Once you are focused on your body parts and breathing the guide will take you on a journey, preferably with your eyes closed however they could provide a video with photos or a photo collage. Once you leave the space you are sitting, your mind will travel along with the guide into the forest, near a brook, to a large meadow, near a beach at the ocean or wherever they feel you benefit from visiting. Sometimes you might be brought into space, covered in light or having water gentle flow over you.

The beauty of a guided meditation is that the meditator doesn’t have to worry about the thoughts flooding their mind. The guide will share how to release those thoughts and allow them to wait for you until after the meditation. If you want to pick them up again they’ll be ready for you, if they’re no longer needed they will evaporate into thin air. Believe me there are ways the guide can assist you with this skill.

I am preparing a guided meditation to share on this website with you and have been reaching out to find a place to practice my creation. A couple of weeks ago I called to find out why the meditation at work was cancelled. It was one of those days that would have been nice to connect with like-minded people so when I returned to the office I emailed the EEOC personnel. She informed me that the meditation guide was not always available. I volunteered my services and she accepted. We met today for the first time. I will begin to work with another staff member guiding others during their lunch break through a meditation using my new creation.

Last weekend a nice young man at the Apple Store assisted me in combining the sounds of nature with my guided meditation. This weekend I will put the finishing touches on the recording and it is exciting to think that I will be sharing this for the first time next Tuesday. He also informed me that I could use iMovie to include the sounds, meditation and photos. So this coming weekend the same young man will be teaching me how to set up an iMovie meditation. The skies the limit when it comes to what you can achieve with technology but I think through meditation we can truly exceed technology by exploring what we are capable of achieving in our minds. Once we stop the chatter we can truly listen to our inner calling and live a passionate beyond our wildest dreams.

Stay tuned and see what I’ll be sharing with you in the near future. Remember – taking small steps leads to your preferred future.

Love and Light,
Sandy

  2. Looking forward to what you come up with. I do guided meditations, but have never added technology. How will you post it? Will it have sound on WP or just where you will be doing it in NY? It will be nice to hear your voice, nature sounds, and feel where you take us! Thanks!

    • The goal is to learn how to upload the meditation on WP right now but this will be the next step. It might be possible to place it on YouTube and then link or embed into my site. This is all new and exciting. The sounds will be from upstate New York and it is so interesting to listen to sounds from other locations. Can’t wait to share!!

  4. Thank you – I carry my iPhone to record the sounds of my travels. As I record I picture how the sound will enhance the meditation and then snap the photo to go along with it. While in the process I am meditating and return home very peaceful and enthusiastic about sharing the experience. Hoping to have this ready within the next two weeks. Love and Light!
