While on vacation in San Diego, California I didn’t think I would be able to participate in this weeks challenge. Today, while visiting Architectural Salvage, a great place to find salvaged items, I found many broken yet beautiful things to choose from. The van parked near my daughter’s vehicle had a broken door and it was amazing to see that this older vehicle was still carrying passengers to and from places. Antique door latches were plentiful. The green glass light was purchased right after this photo was taken by a customer in the store. The center of the broken rosette on the old gate reminded me of a pearl. I found it quite beautiful. We started with the farmer’s market and ended at the antique store. My daughter found an old green shelf that will now find a home in her house.
I find rummaging around old household items interesting and brings back memories of the past homes visited in my youth. Today creative ideas flood my mind as I rummage through the finds such as old door knobs placed on a board and hung on the wall for coats, scarves and such. Old wheels can be reused if attached to old tables missing legs or as a table top with a piece of glass placed on top. The old gate would be perfect for the entrance to an enchanted garden. Due to traveling on the plane I didn’t make a purchase but enjoyed just rummaging around and coming up with ideas. Hope you enjoy!
