When traveling I prefer to travel in my car or on a train but traveling from New York to California for a short vacation requires air travel. Each experience is unique. On the way we can experience many adventures. When traveling on December 26, 2013 to see my new grandson I traveled with my son and daughter. Both dislike air travel more than me. Some relaxation and drinks can help out. Whenever we travel on Southwest Airlines through Chicago we can expect delays. On the December flight we had a three hour layover and more drinks helped. Arriving to a welcome sign and my new grandson made up for the delay. On the way home my son left three days prior to my daughter and I, only experiencing a couple hour delay in Chicago. As for my daughter and I, we were an additional three days in San Diego due to the severe weather throughout the midwest. At least we arrived home safe.
On my flight to San Diego last June I expected a quiet, relaxing flight because it was summer. To my surprise I ended up spending the night on a cot in Chicago. My flight from Albany, NY had a three hour delay. The flights were delayed in Chicago due to tornados in the midwest. If we are not experiencing ice, snow, severe winds we have tornadoes or hurricanes. Delays means safe travel so whether sitting on the plane in cue, sleeping on a cot, or even on the floor I am thankful that the airline is looking out for the safety of their passengers. Better to be on the ground and safe than in the air flying in dangerous conditions. Thank you to the airline and the precautions they take for the safety of their passengers.
This week, my travel was interesting as well. We left Albany late and landed in Baltimore, MD just in time for me to run from one gate to the next to board on time. Then we sat on the plane for an additional hour while waiting for baggage from two delayed flights. Once in the air, the flight was bumpy due to turbulence, of which there was quite a bit along the journey. Wondering what my travel home this Sunday will bring. Hopefully it will be clear sailing across the country. Always seem to be on my way somewhere and ready to go at a moments notice.
Even with the delays and weather, I love travel and carry a book, camera and my laptop so I am always prepared. It is fun meeting new people, seeing new sites, traveling with family and traveling alone – each brings its own rewards. It is while ‘on the way’ that life happens.
Living life and loving every moment!!
