Every photo we take says something about our emotions at the moment of taking it. So this week, share an image where you see a particularly strong connection between what we see and what you felt as you pressed that shutter button on your camera or phone.
“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” ~ Albert Einstein ~
On the 4th of July, I was house/cat sitting for my son. My family was expecting to have a picnic that afternoon and to go see the fireworks, my plan for the day was to drive north and join them.
When I opened my son’s back door that morning my whole day was transformed. The door opens to a small grassy area which greets a treed lot – a little piece of forest right outside his door. I was in a contemplative state of mind that morning after a peaceful nights sleep. Walking out the door with a cup of coffee in hand, the first thing I noticed was the dew decorating the lawn. I went back inside to grab my camera, that’s when I noticed the small clover decorated in jewels of water droplets. I laid on the damp lawn snapping photos, lost in the world of nature. It felt like I had entered another reality, lost in this timeless space of the beauty around me. An experience I would have surely missed if not alone at his home.
Walking up the steps to the deck, I became fascinated by the droplets on the cob web that reminded me of a portal into another world. Once finished admiring the portal, I grabbed my coffee cup from the rail and looked out to the trees. That’s when I noticed more droplets decorating the pine needles tempting me over for a closer look. By the time I returned to my space reality it felt as if I had been on a vacation into another place and time – that is the only way to explain the adventure. My state of mind was in a space of creativity, connection with the nature around me, and all of my senses opened wide to the experience.
I never did show up for the picnic or fireworks. I spent the day journaling, reading and taking more photos.
