The universe is telling me to focus on love. What is it saying to you?
“When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth.”
~ Mitch Albom, For One More Day ~
For this week’s photo challenge – Love – I decided to share some loving photos of my daughters and their sons, my son and his daughter, plus me – Mimi. Some of the photos capture the loving gazes, others the loving embraces.
Everyday I feel so grateful and blessed to have these adult children in my life, double blessed that I get to share my life with their children. There is a ten-year span between my son and younger daughter and a seven-year span between the girls. As children they had their moments of arguing and fighting just as all children do. Once out on their own, changes occurred and we all relocated all over the United States. Some years seeing each other only at Christmas, others times twice a year. Then Allison settled in San Diego, CA, Joe in Chatham, NY area, and Cassandra relocated back to the home town area. Joe’s daughter, Taylor Rose Yetto, has been a part of our live for twenty years. She was my only grandchild for 18 years – until she went to college. She is still Joe’s only child and we all adore her. Tanner Wilson Buchanan – our miracle boy – is now two. Last year we were blessed with the birth of Colt Matthew Jonas. Life amazes me and fills my heart with love.
We do not gather together very often, sometimes only once per year. Yet, when we are all in one place it is as if time stands still and we are back to sharing stories, having fun, being silly, and hugging. Hugging and looking into each others eyes is a very important part of maintaining loving relationships, as is releasing expectations of what being together should look like. In the past, due to our limited visits I held high expectations as did my daughters. Never did the plans come to fruition so now we just get together without plans and let life flow. This allows us flexibility which leads to laughter, fun, and being silly.
My children have become loving, caring parents and friends. The Universe reminds daily that this is a beautiful, loving world. I feel blessed to be a part of the lives of such wonderful people. Who would have know that this 17 year old Mom would have raised such amazing people. Of course, it does take a village to raise children and we had plenty of loving family and friends to share our lives with especially my own Mother. She was a very important part of my children’s life. This is the last photo taken with the three of them together and it is very fitting that she would be included in a blog on Love. Forever grateful for my own loving mother.
