Your take on “Ascend” need not be so serious — it could be your partner lifting your son aloft to set the topper on your Christmas tree. It could be that split-second you capture a fish jumping in a lake or pond. Maybe it’s a ground-level shot of new seedlings reaching for the sky in the Southern hemisphere. Enjoy the challenge!
O! for a muse of fire, that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention. ~ William Shakespeare ~
Whether it be a candle light or the flames from a blazing outdoor fire, writing down what you are ready to release and throwing it into the ascending fire will bring a peace to your heart and soul.
Last year on New Year’s Eve we all wrote down something we were ready to release from our lives. Then one by one we stepped up to the fire, gave thanks for the lesson and released our cards into the blazing fire. There was a moment of silence as we watched the ashes ascend above our heads into the smoke and night sky.
What are your plans for this New Year’s Eve? I love to prepare for the New Year by reading my intentions from the previous year and finding out how many of those intentions came to fruition. Then I write down my intentions for the next year and count my blessings before midnight strikes on December 31st. On New Year’s Day I love to box up the Christmas decorations for another year, clean the house and decide what will be placed back out and what shall be donated. This way I start the year with my home decluttered and only bring forward those items that I still feel a love for, releasing all others for the next person to love until it is time for them to release as well.
As I sit in my living room enjoying the glowing white lights on the Christmas Tree and the burning candles in the red globes I wonder how much stuff I can release this year to allow for more flow in my home and life.
Do you have rituals to release some of the items in your home? If you would like to share ideas we would love to hear from you.
Love and Light!
