Lake Placid and Adirondack High Peaks

Once again I traveled North this week. On my way home Tuesday, there were many beautiful photo shots along the trip. At one point I stopped to take a photo of snow-capped mountains, but the camera didn’t work. It seemed the battery was dead so I opened the battery door to discover that it was empty. That was fine because I placed a battery and charger in my camera bag.  After placing the battery inside the camera I discover the battery was dead. It was discouraging, but I had my iPhone and took a couple of photos. When something isn’t working take the time to stop, breath, and flow. Once I reached Lake Placid I stopped for a coffee and plugged in the battery charger. It was almost the half-way point so the stretch was well deserved.

On the way out-of-town, I noticed the flags flapping in the breeze and with snow-covered mountains in the background. As you can see from the photos is was a beautiful clear day with fantastic views.

The temperature was in the high forties. It felt like a heat wave compared to the weeks of below zero and low 10s. I was able to take off my coat and gloves for the first time in months.

When traveling down the mountain, on the way to Keene Valley, I traveled past ponds and lakes to the right. On the left there were ice formations cascading down the mountains in between trees. Once the ice begins to melt there will be a stream of water crossing the road and filling the lakes. In the lower photo you can see the water frozen in time, soon to be flowing freely once again.

It is a beautiful trip and one that I don’t mind traveling, even though it is a four-hour trip after spending the morning training. If ever in New York State take a ride along Route 73 through Keene Valley. If you enjoy hiking, climb one of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks or become one of the ADK46ers. You will be glad you made the trip.

Love and Light,
Sandy
