In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Change.”

This week’s challenge made me think of so many photos that represent change – changes in weather, buildings, children, dragonflies – but tonight I decided on the Super moon lunar eclipse. What a sight this was!

CHANGE: To begin a new you must say farewell to who you once were. To open a new door you must close an old one first. That can be heartbreaking and scary, but it is necessary if you are to change and grow. Say goodbye to the old you, and rise up as a stronger, and more magical you, walk trough the doorway to a new happier life. ~ Odelia Sky ~ https://www.facebook.com/OdeliaSky.Healer/posts/724699524208270

It is said that the Super Moon Lunar Eclipse brings change and we should prepare ourselves – decide what to continue and what to release. Tonight I cleaned and smudged my home, meditated, then went out to watch the spectacular show. When I went back into my house, I took a nice long warm bath and contemplated changes that I will make in my life with the focus on releasing anything that is not working. It felt like an overall cleansing. So here are the photos of the eclipse that I was fortunate to witness.

It was quite a sight. As you can see from the first photo, the event started with an orangish ring around the moon. Every time I went outside there was a change in the color. First a small piece of the moon disappeared in shadow. Then the orangish-red began to cover the moon. Amazing!

Our Universe is amazing and ever-changing as is our environment. It is a miracle that we are alive to enjoy this wonderful life we have been blessed with. Is we slow down and become mindful of our purpose life would be a beautiful and rewarding experience.

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Symbol.”

Dragonflies are my favorite symbol – transformation – breaking down self-created illusions, opening creativity and wonder, living in the moment and learning to live mindfully.

A few years ago while walking in the Saratoga Battlefield with my sister and brother-in-law I said, half-kiddingly, the dragonflies follow me along my walk. My brother-in-law didn’t believe me until halfway through the walk he realized there were dozens of dragonflies flying back and forth across the road in front and behind us. It was true. They had been following along the roadway. This also occurs while we are kayaking. It is a special treat when they land on my shoulder, front of the kayak or a friend’s hand. We have had them ride along for quite a long time without any movement.

The other day while I was sitting in the parking lot at work, several came to visit. I felt blessed as they flew back and forth in front of my windshield reminding to speak my truth and all would be fine. It was. I think dragonflies may love me as much as I love them, if that is possible. Every time I spot one I stop, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. When several greet me I think it might be sign from the other side sending love and light. Some people believe dragonflies are a connection to the other side – I am not sure myself but I like to think this is true.

Dragonflies are mysterious and magical. They guide you as they move in all directions, providing you with inspiration to open your create side and release whatever holds you back. Set yourself free and live the life you were meant to live. Be free and skillful as the elegant dragonfly.

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Ephemeral.”

Fleeting moments in time shared with my grandchildren. They grow quickly and with my grandson living in California and I in New York it seems that the moments we are together are brief. My granddaughter is now ready to graduate from college and time spent with her is brief as well so capturing moments in time are very important to me. My granddaughter observes her father’s (my son’s) drawings. Tanner enjoys bubbles and riding on his dog, Mojo when he is six months old. In the blink of an eye he is one and lying on the floor reading a book with me.

Snowy Day Decluttering Cont.

Update on my snowy day decluttering project. I would like to share that I have removed over 200 hundred books from my shelves after using Marie Kondo’s method of spreading the books on the floor and asking myself “Does this spark joy?” The result as you can see from the photo is a pile of books to donate and space on my shelves for other items that do spark joy.

IMG_4475

Don’t get me wrong, I still have hundred’s of books but was able to leave space on those still housing books and emptied one completely. Loving the space and will try this again in a couple of weeks to see if I can release more. The closets and drawers look great. Tomorrow will be the papers. Next week will be the kitchen cabinets again even though there isn’t very much to take out of those. The last decluttering removed all poor choices in food and they have not returned. Many dishes were released as well. By Spring this house will be home to only those items I truly love.

Another benefit of this process was by sharing my decluttering others were inspired to begin the process as well. That is what life is about, being inspired and inspiring others. Remember Law of Attraction – we attract what we think and feel. I feel abundant, giving, inspired, and free so I know the Universe is providing me with more of what I want in life. By releasing what no longer is needed in our life we can begin to attract what we do want as we move forward. Loving life!!

If you have an experience that you would like to share or if you would like a free 30 minute coaching session to help you get started leave me a comment below and I will be in touch.

Ebbs and Flows

For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ebbs and Flows

Ebbs and Flows

We all have ebbs and flows in our life. It is being okay with both that gets us through the difficult times. When looking back on my life it seems it was during the ebbs that I grew and prepared myself for the flow. We all love flow but if that is all we had would we ever grow? At least, I don’t think we would. Wherever you are right now is where you need to be. It doesn’t mean you should remain there it just means you are fine. If it isn’t where you would like to be then what steps can you take to change the situation.

If you don’t like your job could you send out your resume and network to find a new one or could you take some classes to build your skill level? If you are in a relationship that doesn’t seem to be growing is there something you could do to build the relationship such as leave notes on the pillow, bring flowers, take walks or change it up a little to make it more interesting? If the relationship is poor and isn’t ever going to progress is it time to say goodbye? Are your children getting ready to leave the nest and you don’t know what life will be like without children? What about taking a class at the local community college or taking a jewelry, ceramic or dance class? I sold my house in upstate NY and relocated to southern California. Maybe its time to remember what life was like before children and start to think about who you can remake yourself once freed from the demands of parenting on a daily basis. What were your dreams before children?

So let’s take the quote and look at the paragraph above.

If you leave a job you gain a new position and new skill set. Maybe you leave behind coworkers that you have a relationship with but you gain new coworkers to develop new relationships with and can continue the relationship with those at the former position thus adding to your network. If you restart a romantic relationship with your partner you may leave behind the comfort of the old habits but you will gain a new fresh relationship. If you leave the relationship you will leave behind a comfort zone but open up a new world of adventure and possibly a healthier relationship in the future. If your children leave home you are losing their daily presence and your normal routine while gaining a little freedom to explore and learn more about the person you have become. You can redefine yourself. All change causes us to leave a comfort zone, even if that comfort zone wasn’t very healthy. It was known and you have to venture into the unknown. Just remember that where you are now was unknown at one time. When you first took your job you were unsure, when you first start a relationship you were unsure and when you first become a parent you were very unsure of what life will be like. So enjoy the ebbs and flows of your life.

If you need someone to support you through the ebbs or flows please reach out to me or someone you feel comfortable with. You don’t have to go it alone.

Love and Light,
Sandy

Taking Small Steps to Reach Goals in 2015

This is how I feel about 2015!!

Feeling Great!!

Feeling Great!!

So excited about the steps I have taken thus far to attract my dreams in 2015. Let me share a little with you:

  • Joined the gym right down the road from my house, which is also on my way home
  • Walked four out of five days
  • Cleared the holiday junk food out of the cabinets and refrigerator
  • Purchased healthy food at the grocery store and have been preparing healthy meals and smoothies
  • Bring my own lunch, bottle of water, and coffee/tea to work with me
  • Prepared a budget for 2015 with a goal to pay off some debt – already paid off a department store charge card
  • Cleaned up the holiday decorations and all of the rooms in my home – now I have a writing area plus a create area so I have a place to set up my sewing machine
  • Meditated four times in the past five days
  • Had one person contact me out of the blue today to hire me as her life coach – we start this Sunday!
  • Prepared my Vision Board with my niece
  • Reached out to Catholic Charities program to volunteer as a life coach for at-risk youth
  • Practiced taking pictures on my new camera while walking in the preserve behind my home
  • Tonight I finished my DVD of old movies with iMemories and ordered one for myself and one for each of my three children.

Phew! It is only January 5th and I have been very busy taking the steps toward reaching my goals. Very excited about my upcoming writing course with UCLA that starts in two weeks and my Intermediary Therapeutic Touch classes that start in March.

You can really accomplish quite a bit working a full-time if you don’t sit in front of the television or constantly text. I love technology but use it to my advantage to reach my goals. Stopping to take in a movie, especially a comedy can be very good for you. Reading a book instead of sitting in front of the television can be beneficial as well. I had the cable turned off over a year ago and have never missed it. Just think how much money is saved when the cable is cancelled – enough for you to take a class, join a gym, or maybe take a mini-vacation. Just something to think about. What about spending more time with your children or friends playing games, hiking, dancing. The list is never ending.

What are your plans for 2015? If you don’t have a plan, haven’t written down what you want to attract, or are unsure please contact me and let’s see if I can provide guidance to help you reach your goals.

Love and Light,

Sandy

Change Your Life

What steps will you take in 2015 to change your life?

What steps will you take in 2015 to change your life?

What steps can you take in 2015 to make the changes you want to see in your life? Now is the time of year to prepare for next year. I am sure you have heard the expression, write it down make it happen. If you can sit down this weekend and take time to review your life, where you are stagnated or would like to continue to see improvement then write down what you would like life to look like. Include financial, relationship, career, family, home, community, spiritual and any other areas that you would like to include. I too will be journaling in my new journal to write down what I want life to be in 2015. I will also be reviewing this past years journals and the ending journal from 2013. This is the year to improve and expand our lives in the direction of our choice.

Make it Happen

Make it Happen

I would love to hear if you follow through with writing it down and following up with how you are making out through the year. In turn, I will share my own. Looking forward to a successful, healthy, happy and loving New Year.

Love and Light,
Sandy

Let Your Heart Speak to Other’s Hearts

After posting my earlier blog I made a cup of tea and as you can see the message was quite appropriate for today. You have the power to send ripples of loving energy to everyone in the Universe. Start with those closest to you and expand from there. Remember little steps lead to big changes.

Changing Weather – Changing Life

They say pictures speak louder than words so here are a couple that I would like to share.

Nature's Vibrant Red Beauty

Nature’s Vibrant Red Beauty

This is a picture of the tree in my yard as it was when I left on Thursday morning. I had to travel to the Adirondacks for training on Thursday and Friday.

Snow in the Adirondacks

Snow in the Adirondacks

This is the view while traveling south of Keene, NY in the Adirondacks on my way home Friday afternoon. The snow covered trees were breathtaking.

One day of wind and rain - covered the ground in red

One day of wind and rain – covered the ground in red

This is a picture of my yard this morning. A few leaves remain on the tree. Apparently while I was away over night there was a wind and rain storm. The view changed quite a bit between Thursday and Friday. The ground covered in red was quite breathtaking.

This is the same for our own lives. We are always in the midst of change whether it be aging bodies, changes in the weather, job loss, birth of children, children leaving home, marriage, divorce, hair and clothing style changes, manufacturers changing your favorite products, or ultimately death of a loved one. Change is a constant in our daily lives.

This makes me question our response to changes. We fight it, become anxious worrying about it, but mainly fear it.

Let’s learn to embrace change, even look forward to it. If we don’t like the weather today, don’t worry it will be different tomorrow. If we are having a beautiful day, don’t worry about the rain or snow in the forecast, just appreciate the beautiful day you are having right now. If your children are leaving home for college or moving to their own place, don’t sit and worry about the empty nest, enjoy every minute that you are together today. Sell the nest, remodel the bedroom into an office or workout room, or sell the nest and purchase a new home. When my youngest was leaving home, my older daughter was relocating to California, and my son to Missouri. I was faced with a decision to make about my own life. My children were my life up to that point. I saw them all often and was too young to sit in a home that no longer housed a family. My decision was to stay and mourn my loss or sell and move to California. It had been a dream of mine since I was a teen to travel cross-country to California. That is exactly what I did. If I said I wasn’t anxious, that leaving a good paying job with benefits and a home near family and friends wasn’t stressful I would be lying. It was very scary and yet exhilarating. I would travel cross-country with my youngest daughter then put her on a plane to Florida where she would attend college. I knew for me, changing the bedroom to an office or repainting would not relieve my sadness. It was time to take the challenge and make big decisions about my own future. Today, ten years later I am back in New York State near family and friends but never regretted my decision to take the big step and break free. Relocating and living in California taught me that being proactive in my own life allowed me to flow through changes and enjoy each day no matter what that day might bring. When I didn’t like my first job, I sent out resumes and found a better job. I didn’t know anyone so my coworkers became like family and I joined groups. As a result I  met some very wonderful people who are still my friends today.

Living in the moment, appreciating what we have with a hope of working toward something better or possibly receiving more of the same can take away the anxiety, worry, and fear. If you can let go of fear you can learn to love life to its fullest. Change happens, it is our reaction to that change that makes all the difference. Embrace it and see what you can manifest!

Love and Light,

Sandy
