WPC – Earth (2)

On this day, between the global Earth Day celebration, and Mother’s Day in the United States, share your vision of our glorious Mother Earth.

We live in a world divided. Some people don’t respect Mother Earth and work to control her for their own profit. Others know and are grateful for the life-sustaining gifts that Mother Earth provides – oxygen to breath, water to drink, soil to grow food. Luckily many are awakening and speaking out to protect her.

It saddened my heart to see these trees felled in Saratoga National Historical Park last month. Not sure why they were felled but as you can see they weren’t dead trees. This is common in my area lately and my heart cries for the trees. I’m praying that the madness will end soon. My co-worker has purchased trees and is going to share some with me so my granddaughter and I can plant them wherever we find a home for them.

“Wherever forests have not been mowed down, wherever the animal is recessed in their quiet protection, wherever the earth is not bereft of four-footed life – that to the white man is an ‘unbroken wilderness.’But for us there was no wilderness, nature was not dangerous but hospitable, not forbidding but friendly. Our faith sought the harmony of man with his surroundings; the other sought the dominance of surroundings.

For us, the world was full of beauty; for the other, it was a place to be endured until he went to another world.

But we were wise. We knew that man’s heart, away from nature, becomes hard.”
~ Chief Luther Standing Bear ~

Luckily there are many places where trees and Mother Earth are still given the respect they deserve.

These are the places I return to regularly to strengthen my soul and spirit, to heal and listen to Mother Earth’s music and witness her beauty in all seasons.

Do you have a special place in nature that can revitalize your soul and uplift your spirit?

Mother Earth will win in the end. There is no money or greed that can out live her.

WPC – Earth (1)

On this day, between the global Earth Day celebration, and Mother’s Day in the United States, share your vision of our glorious Mother Earth.

If you truly get in touch with a piece of carrot, you get in touch with the soil, the rain, the sunshine. You get in touch with Mother Earth and eating in such a way, you feel in touch with true life, your roots, and that is meditation. If we chew every morsel of our food in that way we become grateful and when you are grateful, you are happy. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh~

The next time you bite into a piece of fruit or vegetable remember to be grateful for the rain, soul, sunshine and our dear Mother Earth for providing your nourishment and life.

WPC – Landscape

This week, it’s all about landscape photography. Show us your best establishing shot, out in nature or in an urban setting.

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” ~ Dorothea Lange ~

This quote was very accurate. Looking through the camera lens has opened my eyes and taught me how to actually see when not behind the lens. There are miniature landscapes all around if we just open our eyes.

I love sitting in nature whether in the middle of the woods, from a kayak, or standing on a mountain top. It energizes my soul and reminds me of our smallness, which is why we should pay attention to how our thoughts and actions effect the world around us.

For this week’s challenge I have included a variety of photos. Some from tiny landscapes and others from immense landscapes. The one that sadden me was the landscape of cemetery headstones in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. It isn’t so much the cemetery as the fact that most of these young men and women died while serving their country.

The photos below are from California and upstate New York – a world apart or an all day trip by air.

No matter where I find myself the scenery mesmerizes me. Home I can walk out my door and into the preserve or while traveling for work I can stop along the way to take in the beauty of our dear Mother Earth.

This week’s challenge has allowed me to review photos and remember trips taken with beautiful scenery along the way.

WPC – Dance 2

There’s rhythm and motion all around us — this week, let’s capture some of it in a photo.

This week’s photo challenge spoke to me at a deeper level so I am adding another post. While taking a walk on Pebbles Island in Cohoes, NY, nature was showing off all of its wonderful magic. The Hudson River and Mohawk River, moving to their own rhythm and motion, magically meet and perform a spectacular dance for anyone hiking along the trails.

Nature truly inspires and rejuvenates my life. I find peace in my life when in nature and wishing you the same.

WPC – Harmony

This week’s Photo Challenge is Harmony – “The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords having a pleasing effect; the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.”

I love the harmony in nature, its so beautiful and refreshing to witness.

“There is not a fragment in all nature, for every relative fragment of one thing is a full harmonious unit in itself.”
~ John Muir, The Wilderness World of John Muir ~

“I tried to discover, in the rumor of forests and waves, words that other men could not hear, and I pricked up my ears to listen to the revelation of their harmony.”
~ Gustave Flaubert, November ~

Spend time listening to the natural rhythm and harmony of nature. Witness the miracles of life and become in tune with your own rhythm and balance.

Beauty in Everything!

DSC_0056 (1)

Living a life filled with beauty is a choice. Beauty is everywhere. You just need to open your eyes, breath, and become grateful for all of the blessing. Then realize the beauty within you is a powerful force waiting to be unleashed and shared with the world.

Although some people may appear hard or harsh, sending out your beautiful love can soften and melt those blockages, allowing you to see through and connect with the beauty within them as well.
