In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Symbol.”
Dragonflies are my favorite symbol – transformation – breaking down self-created illusions, opening creativity and wonder, living in the moment and learning to live mindfully.
A few years ago while walking in the Saratoga Battlefield with my sister and brother-in-law I said, half-kiddingly, the dragonflies follow me along my walk. My brother-in-law didn’t believe me until halfway through the walk he realized there were dozens of dragonflies flying back and forth across the road in front and behind us. It was true. They had been following along the roadway. This also occurs while we are kayaking. It is a special treat when they land on my shoulder, front of the kayak or a friend’s hand. We have had them ride along for quite a long time without any movement.
The other day while I was sitting in the parking lot at work, several came to visit. I felt blessed as they flew back and forth in front of my windshield reminding to speak my truth and all would be fine. It was. I think dragonflies may love me as much as I love them, if that is possible. Every time I spot one I stop, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. When several greet me I think it might be sign from the other side sending love and light. Some people believe dragonflies are a connection to the other side – I am not sure myself but I like to think this is true.
Dragonflies are mysterious and magical. They guide you as they move in all directions, providing you with inspiration to open your create side and release whatever holds you back. Set yourself free and live the life you were meant to live. Be free and skillful as the elegant dragonfly.

How very special that they come around you like that. You must have dragonfly energy. You get little blessings from each other. We have quite a few around here. I love them. It would be nice if someone could take a picture of you with one on your shoulder.
Blessings to you,
Mary

Maybe the next time they will take a photo. We don’t generally take a camera in the kayak but once in a while we are brave and take it with us. I do have some with the dragonfly on the paddle and front of the kayak. I will see if I can find them:)
